The BCLA makes annual awards to support work in the area of contact lenses.

BCLA Medal

The BCLA Medal is awarded to an individual for outstanding achievement in the field of contact lenses.  More details are available here.

Dallos Award
With the Dallos award, the BCLA will fund a research project which is likely to further the scientific communities understanding of a topic related to contact lenses or the anterior eye.It is an annual award of £5,000 to fund a research project which is judged likely to further understanding of a topic related to contact lenses or the anterior eye. Da Vinci Award
The DaVinci award is aimed at recognising work or an idea from any member of the contact lens industry in its widest sense.   It is intended that this award should recognise work by those who are not established contact lens researchers; specifically, applicants should not have published more than 5 papers related to the field of contact lenses. Irving Fatt Memorial Lecture

This honour is aimed at post-graduates who have completed a PhD, a post-doctoral degree or MSc in the UK within the last five years and continued with their contact lens research either in private practice, hospital practice or academia. Nominations for the Irving Fatt Memorial Lecture, together with a curriculum vitae of the nominee, are to be received by 1 November.


Life membership
From time to time the council of the BCLA will award honorary life membership to BCLA members who have made a significant contribution to the affairs of the association and whom they feel to be worthy of this honour. Recipients of this award are presented with a framed certificate either at an evening scientific meeting or the annual conference. Honorary life members are listed below:
