Welcome to the BCLA website
The BCLA website was re-designed in the summer of 2010 to meet the needs of our members and the public, providing a wealth of accurate and up-to-date information. Our aim at the BCLA is to help our members improve their skills, knowledge and professional status whilst contributing to the wider contact lens profession and industry. The BCLA uses its website to encourage members to become more actively involved with the Association, by taking part in workshops, conferences, events, market research, applying for awards, scholarships and grants. Conference papers and articles may also be submitted via the website. Whilst you are looking through the site, please take a moment to review the different sections and, if you are a member of the BCLA, fully utilise the exclusive member-only resources that are designed to help you in day-to-day practice.
If you are not currently a member, I do hope you will join us and take full advantage of all that the Association has to offer to both the inexperienced and experienced contact lens practitioner.

Shelly Bansal qualified as a dispensing optician in 1982 and went on to complete his Hons Diploma in Contact Lenses in 1989. Shelly was then the main contact lens practitioner and manager of a flagship London practice for a large multiple. In 1994 he opened his own independent practice. His special interests include orthokeratology and also fitting younger patients with contact lenses.
