The British Contact Lens Association is an educational and scientific membership organisation. We are committed to developing and maintaining channels of communication between research scientists, manufacturers, industry personnel, optometrists, dispensing opticians, ophthalmologists and the public.
History of the BCLA
The BCLA came into existence more than 30 years ago when four of the major bodies in the UK concerned with the then relatively specialised practice of contact lenses merged. The Association has grown from just a handful of members to more than 2,000 and now holds a number of events throughout the year, such as the highly regarded Pioneers Conference and annual Clinical Conference and Exhibition, which each year attracts around 1,000 UK and international delegates.
