This presentation aims to improve the understanding of the basic principles of photography and how to apply this to knowledge in practice to ensure that optimal clinical images are recorded with a slit lamp (mounted) camera.
Anterior Segment imaging is well established in corneal subspecialty ophthalmology clinics. The detailed, high resolution images and 3D view can be useful in practice for record keeping, diagnosis and management of corneal conditions.
With this increasing reliance on Digital Imaging for record keeping, tele-medicine, Patient and Colleague education it is vital to be able to take images that accurately reflect what is sitting in the chair.
Technological advances, automation and point and shoot generation has meant that the basic skills needed to manipulate your digital device for optimal record keeping is a fast fading skill set.

Speakers
Dr Keyur Patel is an award-winning optometrist, practising in the U.K.
Currently, he is the Clinical Director at Tompkins Knight and Son Optometrists, with special interests in therapeutics, dry eye, sports vision and contact lenses, as well as continuing regular Glaucoma days in community clinic.
Keyur graduated from City University in 1999, and after 5 years in practice ventured to the US, where he completed the accelerated O.D. program at the New England College of Optometry, Boston. After completing a residency in Community Health, he returned to England. Upon his return, to maintain the increased level of care afforded to him, he completed Diplomas in Therapeutics, Glaucoma and Sports Vision.
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometrists, College of Optometrists and the British Contact Lens Association.
Keyur has been a clinical instructor for NECO, City University, WOPEC, Alcon University and is lucky enough to be considered a KOL.

Nicola Bennett Clinical Affairs Manager, UK & Ireland at Topcon
Before joining Topcon in February 2017, Nicola worked in an Optometric practice for 7 years, using a wide range of ophthalmic imaging and measurement techniques utilising Topcon Instruments including OCT, fundus photography, OCT Angiography, Perimetry, and other data collection technology. Nicola has a wealth of experience in OCT diagnosis and image capture with difficult patients and children.
Nicola gained a Level 4 certificate in OCT capture and is working towards the Foundation degree in OCT interpretation from The Gloucestershire Retinal Education Certificate of Higher Education.
Nicola was promoted to Team Manager in April 2021.
