BCLA Asia registration is now officially open

Registration is now open for BCLA Asia, giving delegates in Singapore the chance to take part in a programme of hands-on workshops and discover up-to-the-minute research and technological advances.

Taking place on 18-19 September 2018 at the Singapore Polytechnic Convention Centre, BCLA Asia will include sessions detailing the very latest clinical guidance on topics such as myopia control, dry eye management and presbyopia.

The event is a partnership between the BCLA and the Singapore Optometric Association and will feature lectures from leading industry figures including Professor Pauline Cho, Professor Jennifer Craig, Dr Kate Gifford, Professor Eric Papas and Professor James Wolffsohn.

BCLA chief executive Cheryl Donnelly said: “We have been delivering cutting edge contact lens and anterior eye education to practitioners for 40 years and BCLA Asia is a chance to showcase new research and industry innovations in the field. 

“The meetings attract a wide range of ocular health professionals, scientist and business experts, bringing together a unique interdisciplinary blend of knowledge and networking opportunities.”

The two-day conference will see BCLA working in collaboration with SOA to deliver sessions blending the latest research and clinical guidance. There will be a range of hands-on workshops covering clinical skills, business and presentation/research skills. 
An exhibition will allow delegates to get ‘hands on’ with the latest products and there will be plenty of opportunities to network with colleagues and the wider contact lens and anterior eye community.
The BCLA Asia meeting will also allow delegates to apply for and complete a BCLA Fellowship, an indicator of esteem in the field held by more than 150 leading professionals across the globe.

BCLA President Keith Tempany added: “Growth in the contact lens market is particularly strong in Singapore and across Asia as a whole and BCLA Asia will aim to continue to build the confidence of eye care practitioners to prescribe contact lenses with a focus on prescribing to the presbyope, fitting children, speciality lenses and managing dry eye disease.”

The President of the SOA, Dr Liang Hwee KOH, highlighted the opportunity for Asia-based practitioners to experience the BCLA whilst it is in Singapore, a well-connected hub in Asia, adding: “SOA, as a member of the Asian Optometric Congress, is pleased to partner a respected professional body such as BCLA in our continuing efforts to bring forefront optometric education not just to Singapore but also to the wider Asian community. It is an opportunity not to be missed."
