Awards will celebrate the very best in eye care

An inaugural awards ceremony will celebrate the country’s finest contact lens and anterior eye professionals – with the BCLA honouring the very best in the business.

The first ever BCLA Awards will be handed out at the organisation’s forthcoming Clinical Conference and Exhibition as part of its 40th anniversary celebrations.

Categories will include Dry Eye Practitioner of the Year, Young Contact Lens Practitioner of the Year and the BCLA Presidents Award - awarded to an individual for their contribution to contact lens and anterior eye profession.

BCLA president Brian Tompkins said: “Reaching 40 gives us the chance to celebrate the huge strides the industry has made over the past four decades, particularly in regards to embracing the new technology we have at our disposal, and the future looks incredibly exciting for us all.

“The industry is full of incredible talent and these awards will help to recognise that, giving people the perfect platform to showcase their talents and get the accolades they so thoroughly deserve.”

Further details of the awards will be available on the BCLA website, with eye care practitioners able to apply themselves. The closing date for applications is Friday, April 7.

The conference will see the BCLA mark its 40th anniversary by looking to the future of contact lenses as well as celebrating the industry’s proud past.

Hundreds of eye care professionals are expected to attend the glittering event, which will include world-renowned guest speakers, hands-on workshops and a spectacular 40th Anniversary dinner.
The conference, due to be held at the ACC in Liverpool on June 9th-11th, is one of the biggest of its kind within the contact lens industry and offers delegates the chance to keep up to date with the latest research, trends and best practice.
