BCLA Evening Meeting: The Future is in Your Hands
The next BCLA Evening Meeting will take place on Tuesday 20 March at The Royal College of Nursing, London.


This is an exclusive BCLA Member only event therefore you must have a valid Full BCLA Membership to attend. Note that Affiliate Online Members and Registered User accounts are not eligible to attend this event. BCLA Members who wish to attend this event MUST pre-register for this event online as per the instructions below. 

BCLA Members can register up to 1 non-member guest to attend the evening lecture. BCLA members must register their guest in advance by emailing the guest full name, email address and GOC number to [email protected]. Guest places are subject to availability and BCLA approval.

EVENING LECTURE
The evening lecture "Uveitis - Past Present and Future" will be presented by Professor Teifi James.  

This presentation will provide an overview of uveitis diagnoses and treatments, including an explanation of  the SUN classification (Standardised Uveitis Nomenclature) which he will use throughout the lecture when referring to specific uveitis scenarios. Prof James will discuss systematically each of the following entities: Infectious Uveitis, uveitis presenting in children with particular reference to Juvenile idiopathic Arthritis and irtis, Auto-immune Non-infectious uveitis, Anterior Uveitis, Intermediate Uveitis, Posterior Uveitis, Choroiditis, Retinitis, White Dot Syndromes, systemic diseases where uveitis is a feature, specific eponymous uveitis syndromes, masquerade syndromes – and for each condition he will consider signs and symptoms, tips in diagnosis and management, treatments and the changes in evolving presentations, epidemiology and management of these diverse and challenging conditions. The presentation will also address the surgical techniques involved in dealing with the consequences of uveitis, paying particular attention to uveitic cataract with posterior synaechiae and the surgical management of Band Keratopathy. The session will conclude with some thoughts on the future of uveitis diagnosis and management.

The evening lecture has been approved for 1 CET point for Optometrists and Dispensing Opticians. CET reference C-59096.

VENUE & TRAVEL INFORMATION

20 Cavendish Square is on the corner of Henrietta Place and Cavendish Square, just behind John Lewis which is on Oxford Street. This is close to Oxford Circus and Bond Street underground stations.

The closest tube station is Oxford Circus on the Victoria, Bakerloo and Central lines. On arrival at Oxford Circus take exit 4 (Oxford Street/ Upper Regent Street) and turn left out of the exit. Walk for approximately 200 yards along Oxford Circus and then turn right onto Holles Street. Cavendish Square is at the end of Holles Street. 20 Cavendish Square is located to your left on the corner of Henrietta Place.

There are a number of mainline train stations close to 20 Cavendish Square. Below is a rough guide to travel times:
Charing Cross, Euston, Victoria and Paddington: approx 10 minutes
Euston, Kings Cross/St Pancras, Waterloo: approx 15 minutes
