Micro-Credential Certificates - NEW for 2023

As a new initiative, the BCLA is offering attendees micro-credential certificates at the end of the conference if they have gained the necessary credit. Micro-credentials are bite-sized chunks of learning that can help you to develop knowledge and skills in a specific area. Micro-credentials identify that an individual has focused their learning on a particular specialism. The certificate acknowledges this and this will give your patients additional confidence in the practitioner.

Micro-credential certificates were sent after the conference (by email) to qualifying attendees only.

If you have not received a certificate by now, this will be because you have not met the full criteria to qualify on this occasion.

The micro-credential certificates being offered at the 2023 conference are in the following topics:

  • Advanced Contact Lenses (MCACL)
  • Dry Eye (MCDE)
  • Myopia Control (MCMC)
  • Ocular Health (MCOH)

M
icro-credential credits can be achieved by:

  1.  Attending relevant sessions in the Application track (3hrs worth of lectures)

  2.  Attending relevant sessions in the Cutting Edge track (1.5hrs worth of research sessions)

  3.  Attending a relevant session in the Skills Development or Peer Discussion workshop track (One 90min workshop)

  4.  Talking to relevant exhibiting companies in the exhibition hall (2 participating exhibitor stands)

The BCLA programme/exhibitor listing references which sessions/exhibitors you need to attend/speak with to gain a micro-credential in your chosen topic area. You will need to attend in total, 6+ hours of relevant sessions as depicted above, plus have a short discussion with a minimum of two participating exhibiting companies, to achieve a micro-credential certificate.

Due to the number of sessions that you will need to attend to qualify for a micro-credential certificate, it is only possible to achieve a maximum of two micro-credential certificates in up to two topic areas of your choice at the BCLA Clinical Conference.

The BCLA conference mobile app will allow your attendance to be tracked therefore, please remember to scan yourself IN and OUT of all sessions that you attend. Participating exhibiting companies will be given a micro-credential topic each, plus a QR code, which you'll need to scan using your conference mobile app to log that you have successfully engaged with at least two relevant exhibiting companies.

Micro-credential certificates, which are valid for 4 years from date of completion. We encourage certificates to be displayed in your practice window or in your consulting room.
