Early Career Certificate in Dry Eye Management & Contact Lens Retention

The Early Career Certificate in Dry Eye Management & Contact Lens Retention will focus on theoretical and evidence based clinical skills for Ocular Surface Health (OSH) and Dry Eye.

The Early Career Certificate in Dry Eye Management & Contact Lens Retention consists of 5 x lectures followed by multiple choice questions (MCQ's) for each of the lecture topics as follows:

  • Definition and Classification of Dry Eye Disease
  • Investigation and diagnosis of Dry Eye Disease
  • Management of Dry Eye Disease and related Ocular Surface Pathology
  • Investigation and Management of Contact Lens Discomfort/Dryness Issues
  • How to operate a successful dry eye clinic and improve contact lens patient loyalty and retention

The Certificate needs to be completed within 12 months from the date of enrolment.  Students working towards their certificate will have up to 3 attempts to complete all 5 online modules and accompanying MCQ's.  Students who do not manage to complete the course within this time frame, will have all attempts removed and will be required to re-enrol.  Course extensions are not permitted.  

A Certificate will be issued on successful completion of all lectures and MCQ's.  CPD is not available.

 

Who is the course aimed at?
The Early Career Certificate in Dry Eye Management & Contact Lens Retention is inclusive of your BCLA membership and available on BCLA's Learning Platform and can be achieved by any BCLA Pre-regOverseas studentUK student and Newly Qualified member.  Student membership is required and must be active throughout the duration of the Certificate.

 

Once you have qualified as an Eye Care Practitioner, please click here to complete our full Certificate in Dry Eye Management & Contact Lens Retention which consists of lectures and MCQs, a peer review and written examination to achieve a certificate valid for 3 years with the option to re-accredit.  Full BCLA Membership is required throughout the duration of the Course.  Please contact [email protected] for any membership queries.

 

  

 

How can I get started on the course? 

To enrol onto this Certificate you will need to login to your BCLA account and follow the instructions below:

  • Click the 'Enrol here' button above
  • Add the 'Early Career Dry Eye Management Certificate' to your shopping cart
  • Go to your shopping cart in the top right hand corner to submit order and complete the purchase (zero cost)
  • Once your order is confirmed, go to your profile by clicking on your name in the top right hand corner
  • Click onto the 'Learning' tab, then 'Access my learning area' as shown in screen shot below.  This will take you to the BCLA Learning Platform where you can begin your Certificate
  • Click 'Go to My Learning Centre' and click on 'Certifications', here you will see the course you have enrolled onto.

    The course is available to full members of the BCLA and is free to complete including access to all course materials and additional resources. The course needs to be completed within six months from the date of enrolment, if you do not manage to complete the course within this time frame, all attempts will be removed, and you will need to re-enrol.
