Deadline approaches for BCLA awards
Researchers and eye care practitioners are being urged to nominate their peers for two of the profession’s most coveted awards, with the deadline for entries fast approaching.
The BCLA Medal and the Irving Fatt Memorial Lecture will be presented at next year’s BCLA Clinical Conference and Exhibition in Manchester, but nominations need to be in by Sunday, 8th November.
The awards are among the most prestigious in the eye care profession.
The BCLA Medal will be awarded for outstanding achievement in the field of contact lenses and/or anterior eye while the Irving Fatt Memorial Lecture will recognise postgraduates who have continued with their research within private practice, hospital practice or academia and also includes people that have finished their PhD in the last 5 years
BCLA president Indie Grewal said: “As a profession we are fortunate to have a huge number of supremely talented individuals, teams and organisations – both here in the UK and across the world.
“The fields of myopia management and dry eye disease are prompting some truly groundbreaking research that is now having a profound impact on peoples’ lives, while the work that goes in to the continued evolution of contact lens design, fitting and management is absolutely inspirational.
“These awards provide us with an opportunity to reward those pioneers and changemakers who are transforming 21st century eye care. This is a chance for the innovators to take centre stage, showcase their work and receive the accolades they so thoroughly deserve.”
A Call for Papers/ Workshops/Posters for the 2021 Clinical Conference and Exhibition is also now open, with a pre-screening deadline of December 7th 2020. The final submission date is January 13th 2021.
The conference is one of the biggest of its kind within the contact lens industry and offers delegates the chance to keep up to date with the latest research, trends and best practice.
