This webinar will explore how clinical care services have had to adapt during the Covid-19 pandemic in optometric and hospital practice. Ankur Barua and Rakesh Kapoor will discuss the adjustments that have been made to ensure that practitioners continue to deliver a credible service, through the use of clinical advice from professional bodies and consideration of the duties that practitioners have to their patients. 

Session is approved for 1 interactive CET point for Optom, CLO and DO (C-77190). You will be asked to submit your GOC number at time of registration. You must then complete all the MCQ's during the webinar session to receive any applicable CET points. Please allow up to 10 days from the date of the webinar to receive your point.

 


Mr Ankur Barua is a consultant ophthalmologist specialising in complex corneal, refractive and cataract surgery based in Birmingham Midland Eye Centre (BMEC). The ability to work closely with other specialists especially in other areas such as glaucoma, vitreoretinal and oculoplastics allows him to manage highly complex and challenging cases.  As honorary consultant at Birmingham Children’s Hospital he also is part of the regional paediatric corneal service. He trained in the Northwest region of the UK, followed by an advanced Cornea and Refractive fellowship in East Grinstead. Mr Barua is heavily involved in teaching for ophthalmologists, medical students, primary care, and allied health professionals. He is honoured to be an active member of the BCLA Council, takes part in research and has presented in national and international meetings. 

 


Rakesh Kapoor
is a qualified Optometrist with just under 30 years' experience within the Optical Industry. Shortly after qualifying he opened Specsavers Opticians Wembley in 1994. Subsequently he now runs 3 stores in North West London. He was formerly GOC fitness to practice member, Ophthalmic adviser NHS London, College of Optometrist councillor. Presently, a visiting lecturer at Aston University.  Rakesh is a College of Optometrist Fellow, BCLA Fellow and council member.
